Iluminado - Monterey County Weekly 12/11

week ill.jpg

Iluminado was featured in Monterey County Weekly on December 11 in connection with its presentation at the Monterey Museum of Art. The article highlights the installation’s immersive, hands-on approach—where visitors activate Joe Ramos’s photographic imagery through movement, shadow, and real-time participation. Framed as a communal, evolving experience, Iluminado brings the layered histories of Monterey Bay into motion, shaped by land, labor, and the people moving through the work.

FROM MOLECULE to MOVEMENT

Through the work of visual artists Hanif Wondir and Domini Anne, this installation offers a rare look at artifacts from Sasha’s lab, archival documents, and the complex path MD / M@ has taken from molecule to movement.

ILUMINADO - MC WEEKLY

Iluminado was featured in Monterey County Weekly on December 4 in advance of its presentation at the Monterey Museum of Art, highlighting the installation’s development as a process-driven, immersive work built through experimentation with light, projection, and spatial design. The article offers a behind-the-scenes view of the installation as it takes shape, emphasizing the role of collaboration, material testing, and real-time problem solving. Framed as an evolving environment rather than a fixed object, Iluminado is introduced as a participatory experience designed to come fully alive through audience presence.

DUSK

In her Monterey Herald piece, Beth Peerless describes Dusk as a collaborative project by Domini Anne and Hanif Wondir that weaves together upcycled fashion, digital imagery, and sound. Presented as both an exhibition and live performance, the work creates space for reflection and connection, inviting audiences into a shared, emotionally resonant experience.

AWAKEN

A multi-disciplinary production, featuring multiple performing groups, designers and artists from the Monterey bay, and the first dedicated collaboration between Hanif Wondir and Domini Anne - working together build a unique soundtrack to support a powerful political statement about unity and the power of collective hope.

TIMELESS

The evening brought together creatives from all around Monterey County, and beyond, wearing handmade outfits—some made of recycled and reclaimed objects—and walking down the runway in front of a massive wooden nest designed by Jayson Fann.
